I drive a 2013 peterbilt 587 and my power window is stuck down. What can i try to fix it. Right now im going to check the fuse.
Pull the door panels. Tap on the electric window motor with a hammer while you hold the window button in the up position. Just like a starter motor. I've done this it works. Worst part is getting the door panels off. My 389 had mostly torx fasteners.
That's if it's the motor. It may just have a bad connection somewhere, maybe a bad switch. If nothing else, unplug the motor and run power to it direct with jumper wires. If the motor is still good, you can at least roll it up to keep the cold out.
Ugh i cant figure out what the fuse is and i dont want to go pulling the door panel off until i rule out every other possible explanation.
If it's like the old air windows, grab the window and shake the piss out of it hard but not hard enough it breaks and keep, holding it in the up position and it'll go up but be ready to move cause it flys up when it gets that pressure like that.
Slam the door really hard while holding the window button down. Learned this trick from a mechanic at Kenworth when the motor was getting weak on my T2000.
Ok well i called peterbuilt took a bit to find someone but as it turns out since the passenger side window is working its not a fuse issue. My only option is to get it into the shop. Good news is the labor and parts would be covered under warranty. The mechanic i talked too said taking them apart is a jigsaw puzzle so i would prefer not to mess with that since i do not know what im doing. Im going to walk in flying j here and see if I cant find something to put over it until i get my load too dallas tx tomorrow morning.
The slamming the door while holding the button did nothing but piss off the driver next too me Allan M.
It's a 2013 I doubt the motor is bad. One problem with controls laying flat on the door handle is they get rained on when you open the door. My guess it's the switch. Yep let warranty handle it.
