Pecos Texas is well up on my list of ugliest places I’ve ever been. I was born in Texas, but for some reason I never got what was so great about the state.

That doesn’t tell you anything that wasn’t already known.

The police officer who was escorting them, and the oversize escorts along with the driver of the truck are literally dumber than dirt… According to that report, the train was approximately one minute down the track and at that speed the train was going there is no way on God‘s green earth that they didn’t see the train coming

Preliminary reports just repeat the known/undisputed facts before the investigation effort begins.

The track is curved on the east side of town (about 1 mile from the crossing) so the train was likely not visible when they entered the crossing.

I was there not long after the incident parked in pecos and from what i saw, it was unobstructed view as far as you can see down the tracks that direction

Are you stating they couldn’t have seen the train coming from a distance?

Pretty much. I grew up in texas from 3 to 14 and yea never saw the apeal. I liked it better then the ####hole that was utah, but nothing shy of an act of god or one HELL of a job offer is going to get me to leave my SD. Also if i never need to deal with #### scorpions or rattlesnakes again it will be too bloody soon. Unrelated note, rattlesnake bites to the inner thigh when you pick up a laundry basket at 8 years old suck. Just saying.

As for this train incident yea...ive been over that track a few times delivering limestone to the concrete plant there. Ive even been there when trains are coming and you can see them coming from a hell of a long way off.

That said i hadnt heard too much about this one so i dont have much to add outside of that.
