I recently made it thru my 2 weeks orientation this past week. I was looking forward to going out with my trainer this week but he is in NV until the end of the week. Anyway, Friday was our last day in SC and we were doing the normal stuff that all classes do at the end of the week. Then we heard that they were closing down the SC terminal and that there would be no more training there. After that rumors started to swirl that Maverick had bought stock in TMC. Now i have been a dockworker for 12+ years and have seen this before and don't want to find myself in the same situation. I am struggling on what to do. I one hand i think i should give it a shot but, on the other i dont want to go out with a trainer and waste his or my time. I also was wondering if it hurts me with other trucking companies if i decide to tell my training cordinator that i have thought about it and it just wasnt for me. I was told that as long as i dont start my training with a driver that it shouldn't effect me trying to get on with another company? Any replies would be greatly appreciated.
i wouldnt quit what seems to be a good company because somebody said maverick bought stock in tmc.... thats just ascinine (sp)?
Don't see a problem. Maverick is an awesome company as well. I think you'd be well served at either. I'm going to look into this though, see what's going on.
It's more than just the rumor about Maverick. There are some other things bothering me about TMC but i am not on here to bash them. Just wondering if i don't take the job would it hurt my DAQ.
Are you worried about being a TMC driver and all of a sudden finding out you work for Maverick? As most know, Maverick bought the glass division from Schneider, so they don't necessarily buy whole companies, usually specific contracts.
I would address the issue about training with your training coordinator. The other issues you did not mention, but you do need to look at it before you go any further with the company. As far as them putting something on your DAC/USIS, yes, they possibly could. Are you getting paid for training? Are they charging you for training? It may not be negative but it could be something along the lines. Failed to complete training.
Just some of the things they said didn't add up. Now their training was very helpful to me and i will always be grateful for that. But i thought it was weird that friday before my class left they were packing of computers and letting their instructors go.
