    Hi,

Does the qualcomm have a printer for directions to be printed? I don't drive yet, but I see on youtube that drivers have sheets of paper with instructions on them.

From what I understand they don't. You just write them in your note pad.

The ones I've seen don't even have a printer port, much less a printer.

When I drove truck for Taylor Propane hauling crude they had a small printer hooked to the QC for printing your load tickets.

Used paper just slightly wider than adding machine paper.

    cool! I like that idea.

Makes me wonder if the QCs I've seen merely had a blank covering the printer port.. or something like that.

Gotta see 1) what printers are compatible and 2) if the print capability is inherent in every QC, or if it's an added option.

The idea being - paper copies of directions and the like given by dispatch. And other things.

Yeah - I'm old. Much as I play with computers, I still like paper for many things

Mine doesn't. I just write it in my notebook. I don't think I have seen any that do, either.

my qualcomm had no printer. no need for that anyway. some of the steel loads I hauled would come with a computer print out of directions, along with a map. this was usually for a job site load. I always liked those.

Thanks guys and gals if there were any. I will probably get a GPS anyway, just because they are so neat. I'm a little addicted to gizmos like that.

Oh and I like your avatar chief. I recently watched "duel" again. Is that the seen just before he runs off the cliff? I hate to post this here since companies may see it and think I am nuts but here is a little different way to see things. Here this truck driver is trying to make a living and this crazy 4 wheeler just won't quit playing with the trucker. What a world! Then at the end the 4 wheeler creates a hazard by sending his car right into the trucker's path. Is he nuts!?! Anyway, just a little different perspective. HAHA

What you described isn't nutz at all!! It happens daily some times several times a day, for real.

GPS is a great tool, just don't rely on it 100%. They DO lie occasionally :biggrin_2556:
