Thinking about goin ahead and getting my Hazmat because it just make me more marketable and I just got the the study guide online, I'm wondering is there a way to kind of "simplify" what you're looking at? The study guide looks pretty intimidating at first glance, I was just wondering if there was a way to kind of break everything down. Any help would be appreciated.

Most of that stuff you will never use! The test can be really hard if you try and memorize everything in the book! I don't know about the test in your state but I believe I did the hazmat practice test on this forum and Illinois test was exactly the same.

Yea I've heard that alot of that stuff I'll never use, that seems to be the case with alot of tests. Are the tests different in every state? I thought it was a pretty standard test. I didn't think about the practice tests on this site, I'll definitely do that. Thank you!

Learn the practice questions in your drivers manual and you should pass.

As far as being more marketable? Nah. I thought the same and always worked for companies that had hazmat authority yet I maybe averaged 2-3 loads a year. If you don't have hazmat they find you another load.
About the only time it's really beneficial is getting an exclusive hazmat job like a fuel hauler or oil rigs. General freight you won't need it right away.
Companies will hire you and give you a chance to get your hazmat if need be.

I just wanted all the endorsements on my license. But I have used them all one time or another.

If you get hazmat go ahead and get tanker. If you think you might want to do LTL and make good money go ahead and get doubles and triples.

It just seems like more and more companies are either requiring that or wanting you to acquire it after being hired and they pay extra if you have it. I think I will also get the tanker and doubles/triples too. I have been looking Old Dominion and of course they want that. That's about the only LTL carrier I can find to take me with such little experience.

The Hazmat test isn't that difficult, and you shouldn't be intimidated by all that is in the study guide, as all of that is not on the test. Do the practice tests you find on this site and others and you will pass the test easily. Tanker and doubles /triples are even easier.

The practice tests were what made it much easier for me.
