I'm a newbie that runs the oil feilds of East Texas and down here the most popular truck out in the feilds are Macks. You can literally beat the hell out of them and they just will not die but I've noticed for the most part I rarely see a Mack otr. I was just wondering why? Hell maybe I just don't leave home enough lol. Anyway just wondering your opions on mack as OTR truck ?
The reason is parts. Hard to find. I ran a few macks back in the day. They tached lower on shifts than other trucks did. I liked them. You will see freightshaker, volvo, pete dealers etc, but when was the last place you seen a mack dealer. Kind of like a unicorn you hear about them, but see one???
My boss owns 25 '05 and '06 Mack Vision road tractors . I have over 430,000 miles on mine . You see a lot of them pulling tankers . I don't have any problem finding dealers . I've need service 4 times in Ontario . Cambridge Mack gave me the best service I've had anywhere . I like the Mack a lot better than a Freightliner .
Might be a regional thing . There are quite a few up I-75 . Maybe some just aren't close to the interstate . Their website says they have over 500 locations in North America but that probably includes Canada .
This is funny to see a thread about Mack trucks for 2 reasons, Frist reason, i just drop off a load this morning in Joliet IL. right across the street from the Central U.S. Mack D.C. Second reason, my friends that live behind me, there two girls saved there money up and just bought a Bulldog a week ago. They asked me what they should name it. There Dad, who also is a trucker, and I said there is only one name you can name him, Mack. You don't see as many anymore, not like when i was a kid rolling with my Dad. Mack's to me when i was a kid were the coolest trucks, only because of the movie "Convoy" Long live the "Rubber Duck!"
ya around here they're every where and dealerships are pretty easy to find. So far about 95% of my driving has been Macks (old and new) they're ok but I'd just as soon be in a Pete any day. I've been able to drive 2 Petes, one was an 05 with a strait 10 and the other one was a 95 with a super 10 and about 700,000 miles on it. That truck made me wanna go home and shoot myself lol
I wasn't implying you ran regional I meant there might be more Mack dealers in certain parts of the country .
I got that. Just saying I seldom see mack dealers anywhere. I just about see a freightshaker everywhere tho.
