My husband said he was talking to a swift driver the other day and he explained to my husband that he has his qualcomm set up so that if he gets a message he also gets an alert sent to his cell phone...? That would be helpful incase you were away from your truck, do swift drivers have a different set up than TMC or not?

Last thing I want is ANOTHER leash. I'm sure they can do it though, they can set up those QC's to give different tones depending on the message or sender as well.

Well I wouldnt look at it as a leash, say for instance if you are waiting for a load at a truckstop you could go in and have dinner and take your time instead of hurrying to get back to your truck to check the qualcomm.

I would send my FM a message "out of the truck" and he'd know to call me before he sent me anything.

Ofcourse, for the lazier ones that might be a good idea.

If that is something you are interested in try Maverick. All of their trucks have Q Comm pagers that you can take with you when you are out of the truck. It's free to the driver and you have to use it when you want it. I would typically carry mine when I was out of the truck putting my securement equipment away while waiting for a load.

Not all Mavericks have Q-Com pagers. I have one but it doesn't work.

if u dont have a pager, you stop by a terminal and ask for one. if the pager you have have doesnt work, you stop by a terminal and get one that does. not sure if they would mail u one but possibly an option?
