I need to get ready to go take my driving test. My question is the company I work for had a couple of Class 7 trucks with air brakes but all the trailers are 48 foot flat deck goosenecks with electric brakes. What kind of restriction well I have with taking the test with a trailer with electric brakes but the truck having air brakes?

Call Michigan SoS CDL group in Lansing, they can answer that question.

Your truck has to be a 26,001 or more GVW vehicle by the way.

Yeah that set up is. They have three one tons now that are plated for 26000 but they can get more product on that set up so they're moving it to 30,000 which means everybody has to have CDL now. Because honestly if I can go take the test with the equipment that they have up there to keep my job I'm just going to find something else to do I'm 40 years old I don't have $4,000 to pay for some school and then stay out of work to do that and I'm not signing my life away for a year for no money at one of these companies is going to run you three weeks at a time. I have a really good job at where I'm at so I just don't want to do all that

You could even take the test in the 1 ton with that trailer if its taged over 26000. You would have a class A with air restriction..
