question before committing to CDL school...

Hi everyone. First off..sorry to post and ask this question(Again) because i know it threads on here about this already. But i am new here lol. ok...I am 36yrs old, i was convicted of bank fruad(Felony) in 2004. I spent 3 & a half years in a federal prison camp and was released in 2009 .Next year(2014) i will have been out of prison for 5yrs and my felony conviction will be 10yrs old. I am planing to get my CDL then. What are my chances of getting hired to go OTR with a big company or any size company ?

 

You can get a OTR job right now if you complete a CDL school. No need to wait until 2014.
These companies will probably hire you the day you graduate from CDL school:

Carolina Cargo
Paschall Truck Lines
Martin Enterprises of the Carolinas
Buel Inc. (lease to own company)

With these companies, be prepared to run hard, coast-to-coast & border-to-border with lots of miles.

 

Thanks for feedback Chinatown. I forgot to mention that i had 5yrs probation that i will also be finished next year aswell. Thats why i was planning for next year because i know they might not hire me while still on probation.

 

Ask the companies; it probably won't matter as long as you can leave the state.

 

OK. Thanks. I really wanted to start school now anyway. I think i will just go for it because i can leave the state. So that might work out for me. Thankyou chinatown.

 

As soon as you know your school dates, you can apply with those companies online..They need to know your graduation date. They will probably send to you, a pre-hire notice. Then you can decide which job offer you want to accept.

There's another company in NJ that hires felons & ex-cons, but I don't know the name of it. Maybe someone on this forum can help on that.
