Hey there! I currently work for a small cabinet shop in San Diego, CA I have been driving Class C trucks with them for nearly two years at this time. I want to apply for a Class B license but here is the issue. Our biggest truck is a 24' International Box/Van with Air Brakes and two axles. The truck has a weight limit of 26,000. I have PLENTY of experience driving it and I would love to use it to obtain my Class B. My question is, can I use this truck for my Driving Test? I suppose the only thing that keeps this truck as Class C is that sticker on it with a 26. Any advice would help a lot! Thanks!
Short answer, no. However, put a trailer with a GVWR of more than 10,000 to it, and you can use it for a Class A.
I don't know anything about CA, but in VA if you do that you'll get a Class A with a "No Tractor Trailer" restriction.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's universal and federally mandated. However, if he's just looking for Class B work, the restriction wouldn't impede him in any way. Not sure where you're getting CA from, though.
