Hey all, my construction company is new in logistics/trucking. We've purchased 2 trailers (32ft Great Dane Refer & 28ft Strick dry van) and a tandem axle day cab; as well as having one of our employees get a Class A to drive these to and from our local jobs. Next week we're doing our first long distance job and I need to have our 32ft great dane hauled up to the job site. Ive got in touch with a dispatcher who is finding me a truck & driver to bring it up; but my question is what do I need to do on my end? Do i need to have an exact weight of the trailer and load? We've never had a reason to take this trailer across the scales, so I can only guess the dry weight; and make an estimate of how much my load weighs. Do I need to have some form of an official BoL/Manifest even though I'll be the one receiving it on the other end? and, as I'm green as can be, is there anything else I should know before sending this trailer down the road?

Trailer will need dto be dot legal, and have an up to date annual inspection in with the registration.
It will need to be legal weight too, hopefully it is. I have pulled construction tow aways before and just made one of my bills out, as they are not even there some of the time, and the super doesn't have any bills anyway.

Who owns the property in the trailer?

@starmac It is up on DOT, thank you.

@FoolsErrand my company does, up to install; we purchase and install all the material as part of our contract.

Good, you would be surprised how many times I have gone to pick up a tow away hat wasn't even close to legal.
