Ive got 24 hours logged for on duty not driving for my orientation, but for the last 2 days ive just been in a motel room cause I'm meeting my trainer in the morning. Can I consider this a 34? Also on the recap. I understand the the first part considering it tells me hours worked last 7 days. But the total hours line under that. Is that the total for the hours worked last 7 days and then I would subtract that number from my 70? Oh and how exactly do I log a 34 hour restart?
As long as you haven't taken a reset within the last 7 days you can use the last two days off as a reset. Remember that you must include 2 periods between 1am-5am and you can only reset once every 168 hours or 7 days to the minute. Example, if you started your reset on Friday at 6pm the earliest you could start your next restart would be the following Friday at 6 pm. No special way to log a restart. Just log your off duty hours and if you're eligible for a restart just start your work week with 70 hours.
The seventy is a count down toatle , as in hours available after subtracting hours on duty / driving , I am thinking just create logs that shows the last seven before you go on the road , if two days off then start the seventy again.
Time spent in orientation before you are told your hired is not on duty, it is personal time spent to secure employment. You are not a employee till your hired. I log orientation as off duty, generally your not hired till the completion of it. Watch how many are sent down the road.
Even if you had a recent reset you can log it same way. They only count one every 168hrs, that doesn't mean you can't take two.
