Been out of the CB game for ~ 5 years. Last truck had a cubby that would accommodate a Cobra 29. New truck, same story. I know the Uniden PC78 will fit. What are some other radios that are the same size as the Cobra 29? Interested in ALL radios.....10 meter, 11 meter etc. TIA

Uniden Bearcat 980 has served me pretty well for the last 9 months or so. Pretty similar size and the 980 might actually be smaller. A few more features than the 29, nice display, and SSB if that's you're thing. Wireless mic option is cool too. Even the mic that comes with it is pretty good quality.

    Weather info is nice too

Some more FCC radios that haven’t been mentioned yet are the Galaxy 919, 929, 959, and 979

some export radios that are 29 size are the Connex cx33hpc1, Galaxy 66v3, and the Galaxy 86v.

I know there’s more, but that’s all I could think of off the top of my head.

I'd wait a bit on the Quad 6. New version coming out this summer with more features, including DSP noise reduction, and a bit more power. Totally new board. Rumored to be very simple to convert to CB. No need for "golden screwdriver"! Biggest question will be the price point.

Well, the size of the 29 is not special, its just referred to as a DIN sized radio. That's a standard radio hole in the dash of a vehicle. The President McKinley, like I use, is GREAT for installation into a DIN slot because it has a forward firing speaker, so no external speaker needed. And it's got weather alert, SSB if you want it and a few other cool features. But that front firing speaker is unique in this industry. Most shoot down, which, when installed into a truck unless hung from the ceiling, blasts the audio straight into the plastic mount muffling it to the point of where you might not even understand what is being said when at speed on a rough road.

Here is a President McKinley installed in the dash of a Cascadia. VERY clean installation.
