The spot market is crazy but there are still deals out there. This country boy (I only live in Jersey, I'm from the south) has been beat up enough times to learn a few lessons. Some agents you can book days in advance with and trust they won't cancel last minute. Others, like TQL, you have to book last minute to hold their feet to the fire for a living wage/rate on a load. Then you have to make sure your read the Rate Confirmation to insure they haven't split the rate into $1,000 for line haul and $400 for on time. Because the only reason you got the $1,400 was because they were supposed to pick the load up at 08:30 that morning and it's now 02:30 in the afternoon. Send it back and get a new one for $1,500 for trying to screw you and tell them to put the date and time you agree on.
The spot market is not for the timid. If you are getting $2.oo/mile you're loosing money. Work the deals and protect yourself............

How can you make 2.00 a mile while the guys who never say No keep saving the Day. I can tell you're on to something ...why dont all owner ops set minimum rates in a area? Why dont owner operators petition the government to at least set a base scale Revenue Per Mile minimum. I think most have their hands full with Eld,Expenses,Equipment, and the Parking crisis. Lack of business sense plague the industry and while we try to control our blood pressure and keep our BMI in check the brokers, shippers, mechanic shops, and anyone outside of that truck get rich off that poor driver.

Why get the goberment involved? Be the last thing you want. Join or form a group of OO's for streamlining the process and protecting the drivers interest. Otherwise there is another route, it's called company driver.

Just keep fighting with one another........Its just what big gov and top echelon groups want to see from drivers......Instead of working together in volume to fix issues.

There looking down on all you drivers that cant agree on anything laughing while they introduce more regulations and continue to fatten their wallets.

Just keep fighting with one another... You guys will have Nothing before too long.

The spot market is doing fine depending on where you live. Here in the west I'm avoiding regular brokers all together and just using Convoy, Uber and my contract clients. I won't touch a load on either of the apps for under $2.50 a mile, and I'm having no trouble finding work. If I lived here and the higher paying rates were in the east or Midwest, I'd be spending my time there. We're fortunate to live in a mobile office, and we can work where the money is good.

More government More Government !!!! Look what that has gotten us so far !!! ELD,#### HOURS OF SERVICE,EMISSIONS BULL ####. The more we give the government power the closer we are to novus ordo seclorum and closer to the grave. IF ANYTHING if we got together DEMAND our rights back and tell the brokers higher rates OR Nothing.
