Yeah man, my last job I was always lookin at my drivetime on the elog stressin. Ran that sucker to below 10min getting to my hotel room.
Well luckily I've never had to use an elog. I heard they are tough on the solo drivers. Teams seem to do better from what I've heard. I just don't like all this technology that can rat you out. I'm not one to break laws but come on, you have to have some space to get the job done.
Yup I agree. Sometimes things happen breakdown, weather, or traffic. You have to do some creative logging to make it. Technology can get in the way sometimes.
Put in an application for line haul out of Fontucky. I spent 17 years working as a teamster up in WA so I know how these places work (union or not) so without all the BS and personal opinions can someone tell me what the start rate for line haul is,and what kind of runs are they doing out of Fontana? Thanks in advance for any info.
Don't think LTLs will get elogs. It costs a lot of money and with trucks being replaced and all constantly. Also most of them are pretty good about the HOS
Mostly run Northern California, Vegas and Phoenix. Sometimes you will meet and turn but not usually. Starts at 40 cpm or if you want to be exact 39.99 cpm. Hourly to start is 16 per hour. Tops out at 50 cpm as of now and I think 20 per hour in 3 years. Make sure you have a good phone attached to you so you know when to go to work. Equipment is good for the most part. The only union Reddaway yard I know of in socal is the (los angeles) Compton yard. I keep hearing we will be laid off in the winter in the socal yards but I haven't been here for the winter yet. Benefits are paid for by the company for the whole family. Management told me we always get a .025 cpm raise every year regardless. Good luck.
Thanks for laying it out straight up,sometimes its like pulling teeth trying to get good solid information. Not to concearned about the union,with my time in Im already going to get a decent pension when I turn 65. Just need to make some money between now and then. The benefits are nice,we used to have that back in the day where I came from but like everything else thats good its hard to hold on to.
No problem. It was like pulling teeth for me when I wanted to get on. There is what management tells you and then there is what the drivers tell you. From what I gather it is like any other ltl job. The one big plus is we don't touch any freight! Our benefits are paid for too. On the down side, our pay is about 5+ cpm less than others. ACH1130, There was talk at my yard about elogs coming when I first got hired. I haven't heard anything much since then. Hopefully it's just a rumor.
Yea let's all pray for no elogs. I've only heard horror stories about them. We don't need them reddaway has a great safety record.
Reddaway is owned by YRC and working for YRC they are VERY strict with their HOS. When ever I work over 12 hours the supervisor won't let me leave without doing a log
