REPAIR HELP PLEASE!!!

    I haven't had a turbo or manifold yet on a piece of heavy equipment that I couldn't get off using a ratchet or a wrench. Hell I pulled the manifold off my 40 year old 3406 that sat in a field for 10 years with no heat, no penetrating oil and basic hand tools.

    Penetrating oil is a fallacy IMO. Never had any luck with it. Only thing it kinda helps with is lubricating any exposed thread. Even then a quick buffing with a wire wheel on a die grinder usually achieves the same result.

    I ran into another owner operator out here on the road he said I should take it apart & use JB weld on it let it sit for 24 hrs & it’ll be fine thoughts anyone

    They make a high heat JB Weld that's good for 1000°F continuous. Not sure how well it'd stand up. Have to remember that the crack will likely keep propogating until it breaks completely through the manifold or it spreads to a heavy part of the casting and slows/stops.

    Doesn't hurt to try but epoxys like JB Weld are usually used to bond 2 surfaces together, not as a coating over top of something. Worst case scenario you try it and it doesn't work. Its only $20 you're out.

    My mechanic said be careful bc if it sucks into the engine I’m done! Is there a chance at that happening?

    just keep driving it like you been: it will get you to where you’re headed a lot faster than fixing it.

    I’m wondering why the manifold and turbo need replacing? Only the manifold’s cracked? Turbo cracked too?
