Yes, it is possible. It's is a PIA holding the balancer and the belt adapter lined up to start the bolts but it can be done......did it on mine. Come to think of it....I did the damper and the balancing ring at the same time....so I was trying to line up the bolt holes on 3 items not 2. Yours should be a breeze!
Pin the flywheel! Use a short 15/16 socket and long ratchet and then loosen the fan belts just a little. Turn the fan if the ratchet gets in the way. When you get all the balancer bolts broke loose use an air ratchet to finish them off.The belts will hold the balancer, swing it to an easy exit. Now install new balancer without the washers!!! and the ring!! swing it into position then torque all bolts to 175 foot pounds then do not forget to remove the 3/8 bolt from the timing pin hole.
The OEM balancer was a kind of two piece with rubber between deal. The new replacement (or at least on my 3406E) is a one piece unit that LOOKED like there was more room to work.
why would the speedometer keep jumping after 45 mph and or jump back while your doung the posted speed?is the cable bad????she got 727,000 on her but a brand spanking new rebuilt d-60 less than 4 thousand miles on it
I would list this in a new thread first. Then give more specifics on the truck. Like make, model, and year. The engine type really doesn't affect the speedo reading. Most trucks have had electronic speedos for the last 10-15 years. My guess with your problem is that the speedo gauge its self is going bad. If the gauge would jump all through out the range I would say it was the pickup sensor or wiring. Hope this helps.
