I'm using my RM740 and keep having difficutly understanding how to make it do the same thing. I want to force it to navigate via a particular waypoint, often an intersection of 2 highways or something similar. I run into trouble when the intersection I want on my preferred route isn't available as a choice.

Example, from Louisville, KY to Lafayette, IN on I-65 NB via I-65N/465E through Indy. I want the GPS to go around the east side of the 465 loop. I try to add a waypoint of I-465 & I-69 (I-465 exit 37) just to force the route to go around the east side of the I-465 loop, except I-465/I-69 is not an available choice. Even if I try I-69 as primary & I-465 it's not available.

I'm left to add a small town on the east side of Indy 465 loop, but doing that causes GPS to route me to center of that small town rather than near the town. Until I drive to the center of that town the GPS frantically keeps giving me recalulated directions to the town/waypoint rather than navigating to address/waypoint that is next on my route.

    Please help and thank you.

Question: if you know your way around the loop in Indy, then why do you need your gps to tell you which way to go?

mitrucker, nikmirbre and tinytim Thank this.

Don't pick a intersection of the freeways.

Zoom in on a section of i-465 select the side of the freeway you want then added as a via should do it

    tscottme and tinytim Thank this.

I am using an easier to explain example. I routinely have the GPS route me from A to B, but an intermediate city with a loop requires, or I have a preference for one side of the loop rather than following the side of the loop the GPS has chosen.

I can navigate OTR without the GPS. But I use the GPS for the final miles after the "big road". I would like to create the route I want and then follow it, rather than listen to GPS bugging me every 10 seconds with updated directions for a place I am fat beyond.

Its a lot easier for me if I can create the route at my leisure before I get into the cities & towns rather than try to manipulate the GPS while driving.

Playing with the GPS while parked, I think that will work for me & my situation. Thank you. I don't like how adding an intermediate waypoint using "add via" hides the route beyond the waypoint on the map until you arrive at it. I'm sure the rest of my route will show up after my "add via" WP.

    Thanks.

This should have been in the support thread... I will ask the mods to move.

Move the map to the spot you wish to "VIA" to, zoom in, long press and you will get a Pop-Up, add that location as a Via.

I shut the volume off a long time ago.

It works perfectly, just make sure you zoom in enough that you can be sure you get the correct side of the highway if it's divided.

Summary map view will let you look over the whole route and while in normal view you will get a prompt once you reach the way point and then it will show the route to the next stop.

Where it can get lost with the other 6 billion posts? :)

No kidding, co-pilot had that one figured out.

No it will not get lost... Sooo, if everyone opened a new thread for a question, then we would have nothing but multiple threads which many will overlap.

In order to bring some stabilization and in kindness to the site owner, I like to keep all RM questions in the one thread. This way also I am not answering multiple threads all the time for issues.

The Support Thread is always on the first page in the top fold. I also get E-Mails when a post is posted to my Phone. Many times I will answer them if not at home this way. For more difficult issues I like to have the User start a Conversation with me.
