I'm moving from swift to Schneider. Regional part time.

What's their orientation like. And what's the difference between the two companies if you have worked for both

I can’t answer your question entirely but I know the experienced orientation is abbreviated (obviously) versus the one for fresh CDL holders. Maintain a humble and open minded attitude (despite your experience, whatever that may be) and be open to learning the companies way of doing things and you’ll be fine.

You’ll love part time. It’s so great to be able to work when you want. If you are a dependable hard worker Schneider will do whatever they can to accommodate you. I didn’t drive for swift but coming from Averitt one thing I can say is that I never drive fatigued at SCNN. They let you set your next available time and I’ve NEVER had them flip my clock (driving nights) unlike Averitt. Never a word if you take a bit of extra time on your 10, not a peep, as long as you deliver on time.

The haters are gonna likely shred you for transitioning to another “mega”. Its likely a crowd that couldn’t stock twinkies on a dollar general shelf without causing a stink. Enjoy your time with orange. It’s a good place despite those that can’t help themselves but to argue the point.

Thank you. With that said, do you know if there are ever weeks where I want to drive an extra day or so, will they allow it

Absolutely! Drive as much as you want. I ran full time for about 6 months just to get into the swing of things. Now I just do 7 days a month. I’ve spent the winter enjoying multiple cruises to the Caribbean. I’ll probably work full time (ish) late May through mid August to earn winter travel funds then go back to once a month driving. They will never turn you away for wanting to work. My boss does everything she can to see I’ve got the best and newest truck on the lot for my runs. It’s great.
