I am looking at a local position with Schwerman out of their Roanoke VA yard. Does anyone have any general or detailed information about their health insurance? Cost coverage your impression? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!
What you want to know first is Deductable. That is the thousands of dollars YOU pay in cash out of pocket before they pay anything. Hospital A and B will take care of itself with Trauma care a very expensive battle. A friend of mine was shipped there fighting for life after a knifer got him. Bill 8 days full tour, 108,000 dollars. Negotiated down to 900 because the knifer was a pizza maker, cannot get blood out of stone. He also walked from the trial for his life on aggravated assault too. I understand that hes part of the system now years later when he finally screwed it up. My mother she got a new liver. But that was not the actual killing problem, it was a colony of bacteria surrounding her trachea. She brain dead 4 days before life support was turned off. Final billing a cool 265000 dollars. Military insurance took care of some of it.And since it was a teaching hospital wrote off the rest. The liver was actually flooded with waste from the harmful bacteria, quit working blood filled with her own wastes in septis. Temp went up and thats all she wrote. Be very careful to understand what you get or don't get in insurance. Ive had some major surgery and got more coming, two new valves and a stent later this year possible. Which will turn me into a teenager all over again. But my insurance has been very much a warrior, protecting me from the worst of the billing. Spare parts installed into the body? Free for the most part. So worth it.
Is that division union? Some of Schwerman/Tankstar divisions are union and the health insurance is cheap and high quality.
