Should I get a 32" HDTV? Need advice

It seems that most truckers get a small TV and try to mount or place it in their little TV compartment, but even though I am 6'3" tall, my feet cannot reach the width of the truck. So I was thinking about getting a 32" HDTV and leave the stand on it, and place it between my twin XL mattress and the wall. I will bungie it down so no worries about that, but I plan to just grab the TV and use pillows to level it out on my bed when I am ready to watch TV. I haven't seen anyone else do this and was wondering what you thought about it. Thanks.

 

32 is wayyyyyyyyyyyyy tooooooooooo bigggggggggggggggggg for such a small space.

My Pete 387, a 19" Phillips flat panel wedged in perfect in the TV covey hole where I didn't even have to secure it. I had it at an angle that was perfect.

But you know of all the mounts. I've seen guys with 32" panels by their feet and even seen a crackerhead that had a 46" mounted to the back wall.

The TV covey hole is the best angle from all around.

Or the best install was I helped a guy mount one of them adjustable arms on the back side of the cabinet. Use big washers on both sides for strength. It folds out of the way or move it to any angle. Then you have extra cabinet space.

Go to Walmart and buy a good TV and mount. Then you have the ease of returns if need be. Don't buy them cheap Coby or Skyview's at a truck stop. Many don't realize Coby is the cheap of the cheap in electronics.

 

I can't use a mount in this company truck since no drilling is allowed. I wish the base of the mounts were larger so I could at least clamp them down. 32" is not that large, I have a 24" monitor for a PC at home and a 46" HDTV in my master bedroom which are considered too large for the distance as well. As long as you can view the whole image without moving your eyes it is a decent size. Yeah when it comes to electronics I buy the best name brand items. Funny how 98% of all people buy crap electronics and then wonder why they fail. If you pay a little extra it will last forever.

 

the 32 will be to big , get a 19 or a 22. looking at a 24 inch monitor in an open room is totally different than in a small sleeper

 

I watch movies on my laptop which is 15.6 inch. I find it barely large enough. If i bought a TV for the truck, it would be 19-22 exactly as skateboardman said.

 

I have a 26" in my truck. What I did was simple. I built a wood box with an angled front for the cubby hole then installed the TV wall mount on the front. You can take it from truck to truck with you and use the trucks TV straps. I will say that I am in a POS Cascadia at the moment and had to purchase pickup truck ratchet straps to secure the box. The Cascadia's TV straps are a joke! Every cascadia I have been in the antenna connector has been ripped from the cable. I am assuming because the previous drivers TV took a dive because of the crappy strap in the Cascadia.

So just build you a simple wooden box for the cubby and the wall mount. I have had mine fore years.

 

Those big TV's put out a lot of heat you'll have to contend with in the summer.

 

32 is just silly in a sleeper. Your eyes cant even take in the whole thing that close you will haveto move your eyes all over. Lol

When you go to the movie theatre do you sit in the first row?

19 is perfect

 

Aaaah America - land of freedom of choice. We installed a 42" for a driver in her sleeper once. No top bunk. Covered most of the side wall above the bottom bunk. Yes, I thought it was a bit overkill, but she did not.
