Is it still legal to do a 8 hr/ 2 hr split as long as the first break is 8 or more hours?

Also wondering about a rumor I heard with 34 hr restarts, that the restart MUST contain two midnights to be valid? Did this ever go into effect?

    Still legal.

As of July 1, 2013, it will be in effect and you can only take one 34 hour reset per week.

    steelbeltsdrumming Thanks this.

The 8 hr break must be in the sleeper. Most mistakes occur when drivers log a portion of the 8hr break as off duty. The 2 hr portion can be off duty or sleeper or a combination

    CAXPT and steelbeltsdrumming Thank this.

It should also be noted that the 2 hours off duty immediately before or after 8 hours in the sleeper can now be logged in the passenger seat of a moving CMV

Doh you're right -- you can change time at which your 24 hour day stary
ts, but must still log in home terminal timezone. so even if your 34 crosses two 0-hours, it wont count unless those zerohours were also midnights...
