The ISRI seats can just bolt directly onto the Cascadia riser, which is convenient if the riser plate has locking nuts on the other side, and one doesn't have the patience to deal with that. I know that ISRI and the oem cascadia are both made by ISRI, but for whatever reason, I found that some oem cascadia seats are just poorly made. It'd be great if I could just carry my self-purchased ISRI seat with me if I ever had to change driver jobs.

I think that the minimizer seats (I believe they could just bolt directly onto the riser) went out of business, but does anyone know if other seats are made to bolt directly onto the original oem cascadia riser? I'm fine with my ISRI seat, but it'd be nice to always keep a look out for others.

And do the ISRI models that have heat/cooling just use the same plug on the floor to power it? The plug for the OPS sensor in the seat is way thinner than the beefier one coming out of the floor into the black box behind the seat. I'd look this stuff up on the ISRI website myself, but it's all omitted.

That's a decision for each trucking company to answer, not from strangers on the internet. It's unlikely all trucking companies will accommodate you, but the companies that will allow this to happen will typically require their shop install your seat in their truck. So many trucking companies lease their tractors from the manufacturers that the people you ask will start saying "no" before you finish asking the question.

I don't know the answer to any of the more detailed seat questions you are asking.

My aXX goes with me wherever I go,,what, the drivers seat? Pee-yew, I don't think I've ever heard of anyone that wanted to take the drivers seat with them. I think a boss would tell their grandchildren that story. I realize what you are trying to do, that seat has your aXX groove in it, but a poor drivers seat is just one of the things we had to put up with in a company truck. I doubt any company would let you do that.

What happens if you quit or get fired and are not near the house? How do you get their seat back to their truck? The problem you run into is that if you replace their seat, your self bought seat becomes theirs.

This why you never ‘install’ anything in/on a company truck, that you would not be willing to ‘give up’.

Worst case scenario would be that's it's just the cost of doing business, and then you'd part ways. Compared to the tools that other trades use, dropping 2-3k every 5 years is pretty low. It's a shame that it's not a thing in the industry. But the market is large enough because there are tons of aftermarket seats and isri dealers in the country, and they aren't all being used by owner operators who have the choice to install anything they want.

The seat pan with the cushion btw is just held by two little torx screws in the front, and there 4 white pegs that keep the seat pan in place. It takes less than 5 min to swap it out, and they typically only last 3-4 years before they get deformed or the fabric gets scrunched up into the seams.

Maybe companies ought to start. Who knows, maybe there is a psychological benefit to owning a piece of equipment in the truck in that the driver would take better care of the equipment.

I figured that it'd be the smaller companies that stay away from the lease companies. Sysco, UPS, Saia are no obvious no's

Like the old days of radios (1950's).You wanted an AM (then) radio you chugged down to the Western Auto Store and bought one, And an antenna if prior driver had not left one. Deal was you buy, company install (2 screws under dash/1 hot lead in). You could take the radio when you quit (antenna left to plug any holes). Off road 58 thru 61 with the Army, so never got into CB till in 79 owned business and had them in our service trucks.
Got a new V195 IH in 55, so bought a IH OEM radio for it. In dash, overhead above rear view mirror positioned speaker...
    Downtown audio...

You have met the average driver yes?

Lot of drivers live like this. Not all or even most. But id say a good percentage do. Nearly every employer and driver i know has at least 1 story.
