I may finally switch from Verizon... paying $120+ per month and that is with no text messaging and 150mb of data plan... I may actually pay the $250 just to get out of the contract since I will save money by the time my contract renews. I just want to make sure that I will actually be able to use the phone wherever I am at with Sprint. I really do not talk a lot of on the phone like most people who live on it, so dropped calls do not bother me as much unless it is nonstop.

    i've got news for you.

verizon isn't all it's cracked up to be. i was lucky to have cell in SOME OF oklahoma. but noooooooo internet. which surprises me for being on the east part of the country. it's sketchy at best in montana, and the dakotas also.

verizon coverage is about as good as sprint. percentage wise.

where one doesns't work. the other does. i'm almost regretting switching to verizon. specialy for there prise and really lousy phone i have.

ive never had a problem with sprint phones. but every time i try verizon. i've never had good luck with there phones. sprint doesn't lock down your phone or control it either like verizon does.

Hmm thanks. Yeah everyone with Sprint seems to like it, but one guy who has Sprint that I talk to sounds like he cuts out a lot but that may be his bluetooth headset.

I drive all over, been using sprint for years. Cannot remember the last time I was in a situation where I could not make or recieve a phone call becouse of no signal. However my plan does include roaming so its not somthing that concerns me. Although I am not saying it works 100 percent of the time. There are still some mountain area's, vallies, and rural area's where reception just is not going to work while moving. However these area's I am typicaly paying to much attention to the road to be talking on the phone anyways. And these low signal area's are probly not just limited to sprint.

There are websites where you can get people to buy your Verizon phone and the balance of your contract . http://www.cellswapper.com/

Not trying to troll or anything but have you checked out Straight Talk. I've been with Verizon for around 7 years but going to change at the end of this contract. Have a friend who drives for Swift and he has Straight Talk and says very seldom does he run into a place where he doesn't have service. Also it's only $45/month which includes unlimited talk, text and web. Mine with Verizon which is 500 minutes and unlimited text and web is $75. Just a thought.

I started with Nextel over 10yrs ago switched to Sprint maybe 3yrs ago. Ran the N.E. out of Oh,Mi in the summer months and Southern Ca. in the winter mostly ran 20 & 10 into Ca. sometimes 40. I did load out of the Bay a couple of years ago and had lousy as in none service along 80 in eastern Ca.,Ne,Ut,Wy. my AT&T backup worked fine on 80. Another place i had minimal coverage was on US 59 between Texarkana and Houston, also south of Houston into Laredo.Seems as long as you are on or near a Interstate or larger city you are OK other than the Western end of 80. My plan is an unlimited everthing for like $89.99 plus Ins,plus Tax.

I recently fired Sprint after being with them for over 13 years. When I first went with them service was sketchy in the western U.S. Service has improved dramatically over the years. About 3 or 4 years ago I had to go to California to pick up one of my trucks. I came east on I-80 and had service pretty much all the way, even in Wyoming. The reason that I left them had nothing to do with the coverage area. It was the cost. I had unlimited nationwide talk and with all their service fees and taxes paid about $110-113/month. I decided to go with Verizon prepaid and now save half that amount. Between my wife and myself I save at least $70/month. We both pay $50/month for unlimited talk, data and texting. The only extra charge is sales tax. I would have gone with Boost, which is owned by Sprint, but they use Nextel towers and those are a little spotty in some parts of the country. The only problem that I have had with the Verizon prepaid is in Oklahoma on I-40. The phone doesn't roam unless you pay extra so you are totally reliant on Verizon towers for service. I don't I don't know if there is any difference between their prepaid and if you are billed. I plan on using them for a while to see if there are any major problems with the coverage. If there is then I may switch back to Sprint, but they no longer offer my plan. I don't need all the other extras that they want you to have and I certainly don't want to pay more than before when I only need talk.

There will be areas where all cell phones don't work. There are areas along US 30 in western Ohio where I didn't have service with Sprint. Another area was in Illinois on a different route. My main reason for the switch was costs. I have never used Verizon. I have friends who have used them for years and they are all happy with them. I can't see paying double for the same service. You can go online and check the coverage area for the different prepaid phones. Verizon had the best coverage for me. My wife and I have a friend who lives in Ohio and has Straight Talk. She has pretty good coverage other than where she lives. She is in a more rural area of Ohio. I think that she is pleased with the service over all.
