You need a twic card only if your going into Ports, military protected areas. If you don't have a twic card I've seen times when you have to pay an excort to go on the property. This usually costs aprox $100 give or take. If your just starting your trucking career I wouldn't think you'd need until you know where your going to be going

That's why I always recommend to students, to get the TWIC while still in school. Google to find the TWIC office near you. I've pulled flatbed & lots of freight is shipped overseas so you need TWIC for entering seaports. Military freight you may need TWIC also.

Seems like I paid $100.00 for my TWIC. Price may have changed. Takes about an hour.

I got mine about 4 years ago. Was $135 in Baltimore, MD. You go in and fill out the paperwork. Then a few weeks later they let you know it's in and you go down to pick it up. In all the time I've had it I've used it once but the company I was with at the time wanted us to have them. The company I just hired on with also uses it, but the port we go to in New Jersey also requires CLink so I'll have to get that as well.
