I am looking at RDTC and the first day, like most schools, they test your target heart rate after certain execises. Mine is 165.6. How good of shape do you have to be in not to fail/go over? I am in "medium" shape.

I would hate to come this far just to go home over a high heart rate.

huh, I haven't heard of this my school did not do this. are they performing a D.O.T. physical? The only test I had to do for school was the drug screen. but I did have to get my medical card by doing a physical at the doctors. I passed and am not in the best shape myself.... good luck to ya

Roehl and other company sponsered schools do it. Like stepping up a 12" step with different weights, picking up different weights, squats, etc.

BTW, does anyone know the exact routine for Roehl?

wow ok, I would think you'd be fine considering some of the company drivers on the road that went that route. I found some useful info but I think I can't post links here so I goggled roehl target heart rate test and it came up with all the steps of this and what the rate should be it said test failed if your heart rate meets or exceeds 90% of your age (220-agex0.9) look it up and see if you find this page I also found ways to find your heart rate this should be really helpful for you

Now I need to practice. I wonder if they let your HR come all the way back down before the next test?

Man, after lunch sitting in a chair it was 94, I can't exceed 164. I need to get it down, any tips? Plan to run later today, no more sodas, just water and no salt or carbs...

You mentioned practice. That is a good idea.

I was out of OTR for more than 3 years. Very overweight. Saw Schneider's video on their version of the test, and got a crate full of books and walked back and forth across my basement, monitoring my heart rate the whole time. I got better with time because I became aware of my breathing. Controlled breathing will help you a great deal, and you should have no problems.

    Good luck!
