After closing down my operation in California in September of 2021. I moved out to Florida and have been sitting on my inactive authority waiting out the Biden administration turmoil. I’m now looking to fire it back up. What state should I go to that would give me the most favorable insurance rates?

I heard Mississippi is the cheapest to start, but insurance will check your IFTA anyway , to see where you usually drive and adjust the rates accordingly

Would agree on South Dakota, no income tax, and less people, close enough to major Midwest and mountain state shipping hubs

No income tax but 6% sales tax and 3% tax on vehicles, 2.5% on commercial trucks and trailers.

Bfd, MN has an insane income tax and sales tax is well over 7% in most counties. Trust me I'm a numbers guy, I would come out way ahead, and that is figuring if I buy everything in South Dakota. Not to mention being as far away from Minneapolis and St Paul but still being close enough to take advantage of it as a shipping hub for the area.. in all honesty if I made the move I could write most of that area off just like Chicago, only having to go in occasionally for the right loads or right customer

I agree with what you’re saying, and you’re making a good comparison. I’m just saying not having state income isn’t the be all end all. Living in NE now I have tax exemption for my truck and there’s no tax on groceries. It’s probably a wash at the end of the year compared to living in South Dakota.

You also have Montana that has income tax but no sales tax on anything. If someone looks and compares everything like you’re talking about SD could very well be a better option.

Montana blew it. Everyone is moving there to be patriots, live off grid, escape the apocalypse and to fight the gubment when the time comes.

It used to be beautiful. Still waiting on these jabs to start taking people out. Of course with the illegals coming in it’s offsetting it. Hmmm. Wonder if that’s why. “The Great Replacement.”
