Hi all! I am new to the forums, but have been reading them for some time now.....

Well, I arrived at the hotel today. Training starts tomorrow morning. I am both nervous and excited. I will try to post updates as training progresses.

What site will you be at for training? Swift is a good company to train with. Do your work, make your deliveries, you'll do well for a starter role. Please, don't make the mistake of getting put off by other employees, especially DM's. They have good days, and bad days, just like human beings. In a year, you can re-evaluate your position, make a choice to stay or move on. In the meantime, Best!
PS: take your time, don't get in a hurry, you'll do fine. You'll make a few problems for yourself, don't worry. Remember this: the learning curve is steepest at the start. Trip planning is your best friend in trucking.

    Best of luck to you!

My advice would be not to allow the negativity of others weigh on you or let it change how you feel. It gets really easy to get caught up with what others are doing, and the negative ones will often be the ones you hear from.

Stay open minded and you'll do great!

    Newbietotheroad and Starboyjim Thank this.

Monday March 30 1st day of training in Dallas, staying at Sun Suites.
School was just around the corner, walked there. Arrived at class at 7:45am.
23 students in all. I am the oldest and the only female in class :)
Roll call, introduction to TDA, went to Concentra for drug screen and physical to get medical certificates, back to school to show certificate and then off to DPS to pre-register for Permit test. There was definitely a lot of waiting, both at the clinic and at the DMV!
We lost several students due to failing the physical. One for high blood pressure, one for protein in urine, one for blood sugar level, one had several issues and the others I am not sure what the reason was. Drug test results will be back in a few days.
Finished at about 5pm. Done for the day.

    Day 2 Tue March 31
We are down to 14 students now.
Class all day. Watched videos and took practice tests. Tomorrow we will go to DMV to test for our permits. Once we have our permits, we are done here and will go to the Corsicana Acadamy.

We have a great class. Everyone is participating, taking this very seriously and no bad attitudes.
I'm really enjoying this so far. Can't wait to get to Corsicana to begin the "real" training.

If anyone is considering Swift training in Dallas/Corsicana, feel free to ask questions.
