Over the past couple weeks I've had the misfortune of finding out some of the more reputable companies that offer sponsored cdl training do not accept CT residents due to "licensing issues".

Central Ref, WSE, MCT.....all no go's.

That said, does anyone know of decent companies that will train CT folks for their cdls?

    Thank you.

Your best option is to pay the $$ up front and get your cdl...then get a job...many folks get a bad deal as you have read, getting trained, getting a 1 year or 3000-5000$ agreement to pay a company, then getting misstreated, and leaving...and getting a bill....
there are some pretty good companies around...they just don't tend to advertise much due to lower turnover ...i found one..but you will find maybe 1 out of 6 or even 10 folks make it through their first year....so think long and hard before signing s promisary note for "free" training.

I wouldn't swear to it, but I would think Prime does. They have a fairly heavy presence in New England. Can any Primates out there answer this?

Did you try Swift? I know... In know, its Swift but it sounds like you're in a pinch. CR England keeps sending me sheet for their school and I live in CT as well but I wouldn't go there. Arnold Trans also has a school, they seem pretty good. Your best option is to go to NETTTS and take their short course, that way you wont be limited in what company you choose. Good luck.

Prime is ok if you don't mind driving slow in a truck with a small sleeper. I don't know if you will have issues with what you mentioned but you could call them.

Thanks guys. I put in an application with Prime + Swift today. I will follow up with them next week and let you know if anything comes of it.

Not sure. To be fair , it was only the recruiter from Central who mentioned licesnsing issues. The other places simply said they don't hire CT residents.

I hope something works out. CR England has called me a few times, but after reading some of the horror stories on here, I can't fathom going that route.
