Hey everyone,
I have been reading, silently, the forum as much as I could and now is my turn to ask that question.
I am located in Michigan (The Thumb) and I am trying to decide what is a good company for me to start this career and give a big change to my life. I have no CDL so if possible I need a company that sponsor my school.
I am extremely interested in flatbed, so if its a company with a flatbed division and that accept to train new drivers that would be a huge pro for me.
If I am right Swift does have a flatbed division so that is a valid solution for sure.
I have spoke with a Swift recruiter and I have been told that my training would be in a school around 40miles from my home and then I would go in Detroit for training at Swift (I haven't asked about the flatbed division, but I think they do the training in Phoenix,AZ if I am correct? ). That sounds good to me, but I am also curious to see if there are other (or even better) alternatives for me. Once again I am located in Michigan, around 60miles north from Detroit.
To summarize what I am looking for:
-New aspirant CDL driver looking for starting company that offer training from the ground up
-If possible company with Flatbed division
-Anything but CRE is welcome
As I said I have been reading the forum quite a bit in the past weeks. So hopefully @Chinatown can help me out as well
Thank you guys.
Starting company for CDL driver aspirant.

Look at Maverick, they have yards in Michigan. And you are in the hot bed for freight, plenty of work around here. Good paying work if you get with the right outfit. Michigan, Indiana and Ohio are screaming right now. $$$$$

If I was looking at flatbed companies..I would go TMC..nicest trucks.
Even though I've been known to tell a certain driver TMC sucks...lol

TMC currently has a demand for drivers in certain states that the local truck driving schools have been unable to meet. If you are a resident of one of these states you may qualify to attend TMC’s Class A CDL Certification Program for the purpose of obtaining employment at TMC only. The states we are currently seeking applicants from to attend our training program is as follows: Iowa, Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois, Ohio, Southern Wisconsin and Southern Minnesota. We also have limited opportunities for applicants residing in Western Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Jersey.
So..I dunno if they would get me from Michigan..I guess trying to call them tomorrow is worth a try?

Seems your questions have been answered.
Maverick is probably your best bet to get started.
Only other one I can think of is Roehl Transport for flatbed.

I am going to try TMC as well and see what happens...
Does someone knows anything about Swift's flatbed division/training?
Might not be the best but Swift might be the "easy" way to go.Steel Dragon Thanks this. -

Really go for it and try Jones Bros. Trucking in Missoula,Montana. Their cdl school is in Montana. At least give a call and ask. They run 48 states, unlike many flatbed outfits that are mostly regional. I know what the website has, but try anyway.
