Hi everyone.. New guy here...I'm in phoenix this weekend and going down to Swift tomorrow and drop off some paperwork and to do my DOT physical . then swing by DMV for my permit test..I'm ready to get this ball rolling and really looking forward to the next 3 months..
Thanks Inkeper, I will keep everyone posted..I'm gonna talk to my recruiter in person tomorrow about possibly signing up as a flat bedder being I'm a Union Carpenter of 20 years and have loaded and unloaded 100's of trucks on jobsites and have a Certified Riggers Card.. I just don"t want to swing a hammer anymore..lol
But then again I may want to forget about the job sites and just drive a van..may be more relaxing..lol
Keep me posted, I start in San Antonio on Nov 30. I would like to hear your progress, I plan on posting what I went through so other newbies like us can have a clue what to expect.
Just got back from the swift clinic and passed my physical. They gave me a 1 year card because of my blood pressure but hey its better then none.,,I'm gonna wait till tomorrow to go to DMV to do my permit test..I'll keep everyone posted..
Longest medical I ever got from the FAA was a year. Usually, I had to requalify every six months. If I get a 2-year medical from DOT, I'm gonna have to make some kind of major reminder for myself so I don't forget!
Good to know..Thanks Inkeper...I passed the general part of the permit test today but missed a couple of questions on the Air brakes and Combination part so retest on Thursday....I have all day tomorrow to study and now I know what to expect so should be clear sailing..
Ok passed and have my permit and DMV envelope...Gonna take a couple of days to relax being that I'm in Phoenix and get ready for Monday...
