Are you a student or a qualified?

Student - Don't be afraid to switch trainers, trust me, most of them just want the $ and will not train you. There are good ones, but don't stick with the bad ones, just tell your SDM you don't mesh.

Qualified - Watch the logs -closely. This has been our biggest issue, logs LOVES to randomly throw you on line 4. And if you are in the ta eating have 6 on your 70 and thought you were on line 2 and you are on line 4 when you go 4 more hours suddenly you are OOS, and you get the get to a safe haven message, and have to fight with logs. Now here is a tip, if you are in violation of logs, any correction you send in will be put in front of other log corrections, so you can get it fixed quicker by continuing. But sometimes you have to call them and threaten to murder them... not really... but I have been tempted.

if after what you've read here doesn't scare or fase you........then good luck! i tried them and had to abandon ship out in the boonies because my trainer was a vietnam vet psycho that was suffering from "flash backs"...a very scary dude!
i called werner and tiold them all the details, especially the one where he hit a trl at a shipper and hauled ##*! some trainer huh? i am suprised that i didn't get whacked for that one, i work for COVENANT, and would surrender my cdl before going to werner, not that covenant is any better, just the lesser of 2 evils!
at least here you can ride and not worry about the log situ. i have also seen some werner drivers backing up....real scary! i saw one last week whack a reefer at the TS.
hopefully. your situ will be better...should you choose to go, personally i would rather go to SWIFT.
    be well and best wishes..:biggrin_25525:

Agreed- I can't stress that enough as well. However, give it some time before you make the request. It is hard for anyone to be thrown together in a confined space for long periods. If it is a lack of training issue, by all means but if it is idiosynchracies of a different personality, try to be flexible. My .02

This is especially if someone is on the QC while the other is driving. An instructor might not be quick to make the correction if it doesn't affect them, you should not be complacent in making log corrections. If you do get the message, hit "Reply" and send the message "Driver # (your number here) is/was driving, Driver #(Trainer's number here) is/was on QC, please chg, thx" or you can send the macro 50 and make the correction there. Dealing with Logs can be difficult for sure!

Make sure the trainer lets you run the Qualcomm and just have him check the entries before they are sent.

    Ask questions

    Pay attention

Do not be afraid to ask for a quick stop (within reason).

    Ask questions

    Pay attention

Don't let yourself be pushed around

Remember that the trainer was once in the same position as you (as much as they don't want to admit it.

Don't take rumors as gospel from the trainer (see "C.L. stories" i.e.; lighting cars on fire, flatbed w/o air rides, etc)

Just a few but they could help...

Thanks everyone, ill keep them all in mine.I was a company driver before, but due to personal reasons I left trucking for a while. When I drove before,I only had less than 3 months exp.I have not drove over a year and a half.I was looking into other companys, but due to my lack of experience,I was told to take a cdl-a refrasher program. But I didnt have any money to do so.So Werner told as long it hasnt been no more than 2 years, they said no problem. They told me I can do few weeks of training, but I think im going to do the full 6 weeks which werner said no probem eather.Well I guest its like riding an bike, you never forget LOL.Thanks again.

The good side to Werner is its easy to get on with them. But its also the bad side. They don't generally treat you like they need you because they honestly don't. They can get 15 other drivers to drive the truck if you won't.

I saw that you are 43, have 7 years experience and work for Covenant? Have you not read what others have said about them. 7 years. The lesser of 2 evils. You are part of the reason that we are in this situation. Don't tell a new driver where to go. You didn't make that move, why should he. You are getting exactly what you deserve and asked for. It's no wonder that that the drivers find themselves in the situation they are in.

Drive for hours, work for free and take what we offer or find a new company. What a mess.
