Good morning all! Title says it all so I'll get right to it. 2000 Sterling AT9500 series 70" condo. Carpet was replaced by my father in 2010 and looking into doing hardwood. Art and skill of laying the floor I'm not worried about, its the durability and the underlayment. I'm thinking that hush mat insulation but really need something to dampen the vibrations. Also going to design a custom hardwood dash and gauge cluster. I've already got my blueprints figured so the *hard* part is out of the way. I am interested in using as much chrome I can (already have some chrome gauges) but I'm unsure if there are any other chrome accessories (I.e. the eng brake, idle, knobs, etc..) available. I have searched via Google as well as here. Not coming up with much luck. Any input, good or bad, I will appreciate hearing. Thank you and happy trucking!
I can't offer much help as far as where to locate the parts you are looking for, but I can say that seeing that transformation in a thread with a lot of pics would be a good read.
I will definitely have pictures and miscellaneous photos throughout the task. I do have my work cut out for me, and within the next day or two I'll have current dash and blue prints up. This will be a work during free time task so updates will be slow. My main reason for custom: I love the hardwood look and it refuse to pay 500$+ for a used wood trim dash. I have narrowed it down to a tigerwood, hickory, or maple. Ideally I want a hard wood over soft due to it being a truck. I just have a little bit of blue printing left so my plan is to finish up tonight as I'm parked till tomorrow then away I go!
Throwing out an update. Blueprints are finished, just have to scan and post. Got to thinking, I'm going custom so I am moving towards a KW style dash with the 3 inch switches. Wondering where I can get the actual switches? I see the extensions but no luck in actual switches. Perhaps matter of buying used so I have some of the wiring? Thoughts?
You can get extensions for the Cole Hersee toggle switches that came in the FLD if you feel like buying all new toggles.
