The CDC (Centers for Disease Control) says these states also have the highest incidence of obesity. Obesity is definitely not the only factor for stroke but it sure doesn't help.

I traveled into Vermont, New Hampshire and other parts "New Englandy" a few years back and had to ask waitstaff (how 'bout that for proper) to put some #### ice in my sodas. There's a fine line when you define a medical reason for death, in the south. Ask anybody who has had a relative that died of a stroke, and they'll tell you. It took at least 5 strokes to kill 'em while fishing, and only 1 well placed stroke if it occurs during a baseball game using aluminum bats. PS...for all you dummies who think the CDC is the cats meow on stats. Most coroners in MS are elected...and have ZERO medical experience. Unless an autopsy is ordered/requested, the coroner guesses at the cause of death. Without physical wounds on the body, there are 2 known causes for death. Heart attack...or stroke. Take your pick.
