I am wanting to change out the rears on my KW with AG 400 suspension, can I use the torque rod brackets from the Rockwell rears housing and weld them on the Eaton rears which have no torque rod brackets?
Personally, i think youd be way better off finding a ag400 cut-off with a set of 404 eatons if eatons are what your wanting. I aint saying it cant be done the way your describing, but thats a hell of a lot of work just to get eatons.
I bought a chassis with the Rockwell rears for a very low price. I needed the frame rails, suspension and other parts. I am restoring a 1987 KW that had a spring ride on Eaton rears, these are the rears I want to use. The Rockwells have been parted out and housings are damaged.
Yes you can cut the mounts off then use the smoke wrench to trim off all the old housing from mount finish with a grinder to round off to mach your new shape , or you can buy the new mounts at parts house or look on E/bay if you have kids it will keep them busy on the web>?
I have 40-145 rockells. 3.58 gear ratio in complete housings, set up for airliner suspension with springs. Front one need rebuild. Back one probably too. Not sure on milage.
