Hello all, My son recently started driving for Swift, OTR, he has not been paid for over a month. He was having problems with his scans so he started faxing, but now they say he can't fax and he still has not been paid and they say it is his fault. He has been out on the road for most of the last month and is borrowing money to eat, Has anyone had this experience? Is he doing something wrong or are they playing him? Thanks for any advice, never been in the trucking business and don't know the ins and outs, just trying to help my son get on his feet!
If he is using Transflo then they have scanners at most of the truck stops. Once he scans it he will get a confirmation sheet. Transflo is also set up for laptops if he has a scanner in the truck. Swift would have to be set up in Transflo for this. http://www.pegasustranstech.com/fleet He should have copies of all his log book pages unless he is on E-Logs, copies of all BOL's and any misc paperwork that is tied to that load. All this should be Transflo'd back to Swift. What is sounds like is he is not taking the time to Transflo his paperwork on time. If he has trouble with any Transflo machine at any truckstop they will help. Yes, it is his fault. He is responsible for getting his paperwork back to Swift in a timely manner. Swift needs the BOL's so they can get paid for the loads delivered. He needs to stop what he is doing and get routed into a yard. Sit down with ALL his prior paperwork and get this straightened out with payroll. He needs to learn to Transflo his paperwork in a timely manner, usually the day or day after a load is delivered. He needs to keep copies of ALL his paperwork including copies of any BOL's for his records in case the TransFlo was not received. Usually a company has a cut off date for Transflo transactions that if the paperwork is submitted then it will show up on that weeks payroll, if not the next week. he should be getting a "paystub" reflecting what he has been paid for any load he has delivered. He needs to verify that with his paperwork to make sure he got paid correctly. He needs to get a book and copy all the information down from his load assigned and when he gets his paystub, to verify empty/loaded miles to make sure he got paid correctly.
This is not Swift's fault. They teach all this at the Academy and during training. He screwed up and he needs to fix it...per the above. If he threw away his receipts and/or BOL's he needs to stop whatever it is he's doing and get to a workable solution with his DM, and if not him, escalate it above him. How long did he go without a paycheck before deciding to complain? He's failing at his job and he needs to pull himself together and deal with it.
Could he have scanned the pages the wrong way and all they are getting is a blank piece of paper on the other end.
Swift assigns each new hire approx 240 hours with a trainer on top of their academy and orientation time going over how to submit mileage. Again, again and again. No offense, but if he still hasn't figured out something is seriously wrong...
I do not understand how anyone can screw up on the paperwork that gets you paid.Especially something as simple as scanning your paperwork after each load. What is even a scarier thought is that he if cannot even handle that why is he driving an 80k tractor/trailer?
Yes I agree ! not to sound mean, but he needs to put on his big boy pants and go in and see what is wrong. or there is another answer here. maybe he is spending what he gets and is borrowing because of poor money management. the straight answer is Swift pays their drivers for every load that you show you delivered
One thing for sure when I worked for them. Except for a few mistakes. I have always gotten paid on time.
Man tell your son he has to get to find a solution to a problem he created. It sounds unfair but if I work for a company that says paperwork must be turned in prior to payment.. Then it is my responsibility to get this paperwork in. It may not be fair but the world isn't fair.... Swift can't get paid (in theory) without it.. Now I am pretty sure they have called the reciever and gotten their copy. Having said that it is not their responsibility to pay your son when he has not finished his job. Tell your son no more borrowing money until he comes up with a solution. If you continue to allow this to go on you will not get anything but screwed by your son with money he owes you or someone else. He has earned money and he needs to step up and do what is right.. Transflo is about 100% accurate and if their is a problem it is on the senders operation end.. Having said that Swift could have made a mistake but they aren't going to correct it without him showing some balls and dealing with it in a professional manner. Tell him not to go in with the "hey you #$%(#$s screwed me" He needs the " I have an issue I would like to reach a solution" more flies with honey and all
