Newbie to the forums. Two of us from South jersey are about to choose between Swift or Werner to go OTR team. Both have different pros and cons from the info we were told and/or researched.

As you know, you are at the mercy of the company for layovers, miles, breakdowns, etc........

Any advice or info would be greatly appriciated.

    Thanks

I think you just answer your own question there. So why even waste your time with those two. There many better companies out there that take teams, stick around here and you'll find all the info you need.

Yep. At least talk to some other companies first. Recruiters will tell you in minutes if you qualify. Go to a truck stop and get some of those free little glossy "magazines" that are full of recruiting ads. Might even find one with a signing bonus, even for a new team.

All I have been doing is fishing through companies for a few weeks. I live right near the Del. Mem. Bridge, I have stalked the truck stops and sat on the overpass at the base of the bridge fishing for companies.
Between the two of us we have been in contact with approx. 25 companies. We also contacted seperately to verify the info given. Swift and Werner are feeding us the best story.

Combo. I have run various trucks over eleven years, for four companies within my five state area. He has twenty plus years behind the wheel. He has 12yrs OTR from six years ago. We both just had our company shut down, where we were local tri-state.

Swift is who we are leaning toward. Werner has a sign-on but they pay less per mile and giving us a lower average of miles.

    Have you looked into WEL?

Don't personally know anything about them...except talking to a couple of their drivers out here in Sacramento....they do coast to coast with teams I am told.

I don't know about swift, but trust me, Werner is just feeding you a story. I know several people that have run team with Werner and none were too happy. I would think that as others have said you should be able to do much better.
