I was surprised, after all this time, that Rand finally gave us a map update.
It's been 2+ years with my 520, after all.

I had to wait until I got home, and bought a MicroSD card to do it. 4GB is a lot of information.
But it was well worth the expense and time.

I didn't go cheap on the memory card, and I got a 16GB card just to make sure.
By cheap I mean the inexpensive slower memory. I got one that had a high data rate.

It wasn't just a map update. It updated many other features as well.
It is like I just bought a brand new GPS.

Well, I only get 'home' once every 2 months or so, and the last time home when I got the update was 2 weeks ago.
    For me, it's new.
I learned of it nearly 2 months ago, but I wasn't going to use my expensive data plan to download it. I waited until I could get home where it would not cost me.

    mickimause Thanks this.

Well then you're still behind -- a new update (bug fix) was pushed this last week.

Well I hope it a fairly small update then.

    But a bug fix...
My 520 is working very fine now. I'd hate to apply a little bug fix just to get even more.
It seems that every bug I was bothered with has gone away.

So now I wonder if it's still worth the extra money for the 730? Sounds like the updates to the 720 have substantially closed the gap.

Im ready to purchase one or the other. Rand has refurbed 730s for $299 and the 720s for $229

It is the new ones -- like the unit sometimes locking up with junction view on -- that this update addresses. It may (i hope) fix the frozen truck speed limits

The 730 is about 3-4 times faster in processing speed.
