So I’m leaning towards a galaxy 949. Any thoughts or input? It doesn’t seem like many people have had them.

I had a couple 959's. They were decent radios.

Right now I have a 949 in the beater truck, it is an ok radio, properly aligned it does well.

Thanks fellas I appreciate it. Do you think that the frequency counter is a necessity?

For me it isn't. I have a 959 and I really don't even pay that much attention to the frequency counter when I'm using the radio.

    No it isn't.

I don't get why people like to see their frequency, it really doesn't matter much.

Might want to check out the Galaxy 979...similar to the 949 but not as "boxy" looking, and smaller footprint so it doesn't take up as much space ...IMO nicer looking radio and does well on ssb...also available with a freq. counter now if that's something you want...(979f has the freq. counter)

And I wonder with what kind of frequency do they look at their frequency?
