Called load going lexington to ga paying 2.12 a mile lady broker said thats good for a partial. I say I don't do partials, my theroy is
if enough people pass them up they will find more money. Sadly most people don't have a thought process long enough to understand that.
This was the best paying one today in Ky. Except for the load paying 2.84 a mile going to NYC with two stops.
OD loads paying less than 2.50 a mile the truckstop is full so I have plenty of company.
Today really sucks as did yesterday. Mental note to self don't come back to Ky. unless you bring some ky.
Plenty of low paying loads going to other awful places like tx,ia,ne and the likes.

Heck I think Cluck would do that partial for 2.12. He's our resident ltl guy on the flatbed side of things.

Thats what I said someone will haul it. I would've a couple years back but time you stop to pick it up, tarp it, drop it and bill it your money is eaten up.
Something will turn up now it started raining. Had a fool one time wanted me to tarp in the rain. I told him don't bother loading me cause I wasn't and left. I told a broker today 400 to pick up and bill a load wasn't worth the trouble and take it 231 miles. Running one truck and picking up ltl crap all you doing is wearing your truck out and your body to. At the end of the year all you'll get is tired no time to spend the money and tax bill so they can give away what you worked twice as hard for to non workers. I'll take less miles, less money, less taxes. Think I need to apply for my free goverenment furnished cell phone.

Finally a load that pays and it's to late in the day to get setup and all 3.25 a mile this sucks.
I had called earlier when mr. stingy broker had it and turned it down, now the money has been found and it's to 'late to do it.
    I'm going home screw this.

See you are trying to find all rich loads. Now your deadheading home out of your pocket. I am not saying haul cheap freight and you gave little info on the partial. but if its a light load and not even a full trailer load at 2.12 a mile your mpg for the load go up you have less wear and tear on the truck and in the end making the same if not more money than hauling a 3 dollar a mile load grossed out and working the truck like a dog.....I will haul all day at 2 a mile and make plenty of profit after fuel and repair per quarter

    BoyWander Thanks this.

That, mcgoo, is because your thinking too short term. You need to be thinking long term AVERAGES.
The more of those light loads you do, the more money they become.
Also, it might lead to long term contracts with the shipper, rather than searching the load boards all day long and getting the shaft in the end.

Strangely enough I consider I won today. Let me explain how the load I mentioned was posted by another brokr this morning he was offering 350.00 less than that I quoted. He missed the load too as a different broker is the one who called me and we was working on 3.25 a mile. The hold was I had to fill outr a carrier pack and runs his credit with factoring company. There wasn't enough time to do all of this so I passed it on and someone else got it. But I left the broker with a positive impression of my business and didn't jerk him around. Their credit come back with double what I asked to be extended so next time I'll be more ready for one of their loads. Plus by me truning it down maybe I cost the original stingy broker a customer.
I starve my enemies not feed them. Not sure what your truck CPM is but if it like 1.60-1.80 a mile at 2.00 a mile your making about 11-13 and hour running empty your making even less. I try and keep my pay rate at .60 or above. but to each his own it took me few years to get to this point. I spent my first couple years lugging ltl and cheap stuff till I learned better. Alpo or steak it's everyone's own personal prefrence.
