Was hoping to stay with my first company a year before moving on but it doesn't look like thats going to be possible. I've been here 7 months, no accidents or incidents. Perfect record. If u stay here another 5 months I'll lose just about everything I own, just doesnt pay a livable wage.
So, what should someone with only 7 mo the under their belt look for wage wise. Looking at going to tankers, already have the endorsements. Located in western louisiana.

You're very smart by having the endorsements. Plenty of jobs for you in Western Louisiana. Here's some companies that will hire you. Some websites may show 12 mos. experience required, but in fact these companies hire new cdl grads.
Trimac Transportation - Shouldn't have any problem making around $65K just starting out. After 2 yrs. and qualifying for the "Elite Fleet" you can make over $100K running OTR coast to coast.
    McKenzie Tank Lines
    Schneider Bulk
    A&R Transport - dry bulk non-hazmat
    SVTN
    Superior-Carriers
    Tidewater Transit
    CTL Transportation
All the above will probably hire you. All will put you in the $60K+ pay range with no problem; don't be surprised to make $65K your first year.

Have had great conversations with SC, unfortunately not sure we could take the apparent 6 weeks of training pay. Even with the 7 months you hire on as a student.

Trucking - the harder you work , the broker you get.

Get out of trucking and get into shippers , freight , logistics etc etc. Listen to Chinatown that man will steer you straight.

Notice Kevin Rutherford - he will do and sell a million things but HE WILL NOT touch freight will not move freight will not have anything to do with it. He will just tell everyone else what to do. Learn from this.
