I am a student that has recently attempted tmcs training program. I finished my 5th week on my final training report to the training my driver/ trainer told the coordinator that my nerves were probably not consistent with the requirements of this job. I talked to the training coordinator personally he backed up and double talked the entire conversation we agreed to part ways which i understood. I than recieved my separation letter it appears that the coordinator double talked and backed his way into putting the words "I quit" into the conversation which they never did! So on my final check they garnished a "training agreement" and they also charged me for the physical and drug screen. My first training week started on a wednesday because my trainer was sick for the first 2 days of the week so I lost 2 days of pay for that i asked they said o ya it breaks down to 70 a day so we figured it at that which is understandable , my 3rd and 4th week in training my trainer and i stayed out for 2 consecutive weeks which is 2 extra days worked I didnt get paid for those 2 extra days i called and they said o ya its based on a mon- fri work week so weekends are unpaid! so i didnt get paid for 2 days i didnt work or 2 days that i did work so I guess thats nice and convenient for them to pay whenever they decide! Thanks for listening to my rant, My trainer was a very good trainer by the way im not sure he knew that i wouldnt get paid for the weekend! Dave
Your just another poor sucker that fell for the truck driving school, make big money bull crap. Truck driving schools are a bussiness so they will never tell anyone trucking is the worst its ever been in the modern erra of trucking. All these big companies are treating drivers like s@#% because they can get away with it right now. Their are more drivers than jobs right now and the schools just keep turning out more. Just remember for every truck running up and down the road their are more than one driver that wants that job. So dont screw up or your gone! Big companies like TMC have more fine print that u will never now about untill u work 4 nothing and they tell u thats how it is. U will do more work 4 free in trucking that u will ever imagine. Just remember if a companie advertises in the job books u find in truck stops they are no good. U will only be a number their and they dont give a #### about U! As a new bee its hard to get a jos anywhere other than these driver mill POS companies but I would try smaller companies. They usually treat their drivers better.A250 truck co. is usually better than a 2500 truck co, and a 25 truck co is usually better than the 250. Not always but usually. Good luck and use this web sight it has info. on all the big companies, good and bad, mostly bad cause thats the truth about trucking today.
Good luck Superdave- hopefully things will work in your favor and yes use this site-it really does have alot of useful info from A-Z in and around driving.
You are absolutely right I did fall for the truck driving school line of bs! I went to school and overpaid and was under prepared for driving a truck they wanted to get me my cdl and shuttle me out of there to protect their bottom line! I am already working more for free than I ever have and if all goes well Im done driving a truck, I respect what you guys do, but its not for me!
Not all companies are like that! Maverick has been outstanding! We just purchased a reefer company and are looking to add 300 drivers! So do not cast a broad net as all companies are not alike!
