Trying to get into hazmat and/or tanker gigs with no luck. Asking if the competition to find openings are few and far between, and if I'm better off relocating up north to Flagstaff/Prescott area. Have all my endorsement and 2 years experience, mostly local food delivery. Thanks

What type(s) of hazmat tank were/are you looking for? Chemicals? Fuel? Something else? Doesn't matter?

You might be a bit more specific there. What carriers have you tried?

Note also that....generally speaking....the CDL job market of late has been in the doldrums -- even for experienced drivers with clean records.

Thus -- you may (or may not) have better success up in the Prescott area.

Looking just to get my feet wet with hazmat. Have applied to the usual carriers out here for fuel and tanker, also a few intermodal. Have had a few offers to start out in Flagstaff/Prescott, none in Phoenix. Hopefully with some of the layoffs with the whole fmcsa mandates more gigs will open.

Depending on what/who they are....if you have had offers....maybe you should take one of them.

Without more info -- it's pretty tough to weigh in with any decent feedback on them.

I cannot imagine there are more opportunities near Flagstaff than Phoenix. Do you have some tanker experience. Most tanker companies don't hire newbies but they might only require 1 year of CDL experience. VERY few will hire a driver with less than 1 year for HazMat tanker, but every year I see something else I never ever expected to see.

If you can't find a gig in PHX, moving north is not going to help.

I have looked into the big names in Phoenix for fuel/tanker position. Most want 3+ years experience.
