This would save so much time not having to look for an empty, and it would be a good thing for security. The TSA should love something like this. As for the drivers it should speed up delivery times. I would like to know what companies have implemented this type of technology, and if so do some of you drivers have experience with GPS on company trailers.
All info will be helpful, Thanks !![]()

Any and all companies that have Qualcomm are using some form of gps with their logistics. I know with CR England, you send a macro out for arrived at shipper (location by gps with message). Bumped the dock (another gps). Leaving shipper (more gps).
Basically anytime you send a message on that qualcomm you just alerted the company where you are. Even if you send a lost message. -
They're not all that beneficial ... Knight's trailers had that, along with the interior photo upload technology, but I'd spend 4-5 hours and 200 miles each week driving like a mad man, racing against other Knight drivers on a wild goose chase, looking for an MT that was rarely there. Point is, don't take a job somewhere ONLY because they claim to have trailer tracking technology because you'll probably be disappointed. Any carrier whose trailer:tractor ratio is too low is going to have problems and all the technology in the world is not going to help that situation. In the end, come to find out, Knight relied primarily on the macros inputted by the drivers and dm's to determine where an unassigned trailer MIGHT be.

I do agree that sometimes looking for a empty is a wild goose chase. After a vacation I took a while ago, the company sent me to Nestle in Anderson Indiana for a empty (I live 5 miles from that plant). The customer did not have any empties. While my DM was hunting down my next empty, a driver from another fleet was dropping off a empty. I snatched that trailer before he went through the customers front gate.
