Trying To Find A Company

Ok people...

I'm really trying to get back behind the wheel, but I'm hitting the wall on who'll take me.
I'm having trouble because I already have my CDL, but only about a month of experience. This was at least 5 years ago, so I'd need refresher training. And on top of that, I was charged with a misdemeanor this year.

Every company I've talked to treats the misdemeanor like a felony, and the only companies I've found so far that'll take me are Western Express and Paschall Truck Lines. But I keep hearing hideous things about both...Granted, I know the first year will be no walk in the park, but I'm also not looking to get screwed for working 10-12 hours a day. If I wanted that, I'd go back to driving cabs...

Does anyone know any other companies out there that would give me a chance?

What about the fact I have a misdemeanor charge this year? Every recruiter I've talked to has all but gasped and acted like I was charged with a violent felony or something.

 

All you need is about 3 mos. somewhere and plenty of other companies will hire you. No matter how bad you may think it is, stick it out 3 mos. then start submitting applications.

Senn Freight Lines does a lot of west coast runs.

 

Do the online applications before talking to a recruiter. Then call the company and say, "I'm checking on my job application." Do it this way and you may even bypass the recruiter and be talking directly to someone at the company.
The misdemeanor doesn't mean much these days for most companies.

Huh. I live here, and I'd never heard of them before. I'll definitely check that out.

 

I wonder how they get around the HOS with that 14 hour day thing, unless it's a non-driving job which it sounds like.
