I have a TWIC card I believe it was 135.00. This is suppose to be a ID verification system for Transportation workers. The card has a digitial copy of your finger prints and your mug shot coded into it. Sounds good to a degree. None of the places that require it have a comptuer setup to verify your ID.

Do you think thei is just another government scam to suck money out of the transportation workers. This is not just truckers, anybody doing business with a american port is required to have them.

Are Mexican carriers required to have the TWIC, or is that a free pass for them like CARB as well....

Transpotation Worker Identification Card, Nationalility has nothing to do with it. Here in the LA port and San Diego there real serious about it. Although they have no way to read it, they just glance and let you threw. Another scam..

Once again, the illusion of security vs. the actual thing.

I have an appointment to get one next month...
What I don't get is, that the Feds ran a background check on me for different reasons in 2000...

There are a number of loads coming out the harbors that require the TWICs now.....But I agree...it's the illusion of security...

Every time I fly, I'm usually pulled aside for a search short of a BCS...meanwhile....a whole parade of those who look like they're terror suspects, walk on by grinning "Look...they got another one"....

It is amazing at the airports.

I save lives and houses. Yet I was treated as a terrorist because the key fob on the key ring for my house was for the alarm and remote starting system on a car that was no where near the airport. The blonde could not figure out that it worked like her remote.

Got the wand and search. Had to even remove my shoes.

    Yup....you know the "Drill".....
I guess they do it to me because I'm a 6' tall blond dude with a goatee....not your typical terrorist but, if they pulled Muhammed over...they'd have the A.C.L.U. all over them in a heartbeat.....I have no one except myself to defend me....

I find eating burritos at Taco Bell prior to arriving at the airport seems to speed up the process. Rips a good one when you remove your shoes and they seem to want to move you along..hmmm..
