I don't have anyone depending on me day to day except my current employer and that dependence will end May 20, the last day of school for the school district I drive a school bus for. I've got a few odds and ends to take care of for my elderly parents but I have 2 sisters who will be around to see to their day-to-day needs. Neither of my parents is homebound and my old daddy still drives....a little.

But, I know for sure that I will forget to do some things that I need to do now before beginning driving school and the subsequent months on the road with a trainer. I want to focus my attention on the job at hand once I get started, the fewer distractions from the old home front, the better.

What are some of the things that wannabes in training need to "wrap up" and "tie up" before leaving for the great adventure? Some of you newbies and trainers could really help out here, so, whaddya say?:biggrin_25514:

Make sure everything is in order at home. If you have any major problems; now is the time to take care of them. You want learning environment to be stress and worrisome free. Also let your friends and family know that you will not be able to return phone calls if they call you so you can focus.

Make sure that your will is current..

Make sure that your company/trainer has a contact list in case of emergency..

Not sure if you're getting out of a house/apartment? If so make sure to turn off the water to the house.. The last thing you need is a pipe to break in an unattended house..

Well the company's gonna send you a list of what to bring for orientation and training so, try to think around that list and bring anything that you NEED that is not on the list.

Don't know if you have any prescription meds or not but make sure that you have an adequate supply if you do. Even OTC stuff like tylenol or what not. It's better to have some than to have to try and find your favorite brand out on the road.

Maybe a good "once over" by your personal Doc. Beyond the DOT stuff, just to make sure nothing is liable to pop up in the near future.

Set up on-line or automatic bill pay for your personal stuff.

Make an arrangement with someone to keep an eye on your place and personal stuff.

    ummm........ I'm done.

Just want to say good luck and keep us informed. Make sure you give the bus back so they don't come looking for it.:biggrin_255:

I don't think I have seen anyone on theses boards put as much time into research as you have,.....And most don't listen to a thing they get told,..

If anyone is going to make I think you can,...However if I was a betting man I would take the under,....Nothing personal just they way I would play the odds,...
