Just finished day one of orientation in chicago,il so far so good!! only thing is most of the first day is just alot of sitting around waiting for all your testing..such as road test, physicals that kind of thing. The trainer I had was really nice and professional and the hotel we are put up in is very nice and comfortable. So far so good....
Good luck, man! I'm (hopefully) about to go through the same thing next week, provided I get hired on with the company I'm talking to (Cargo Transporters).
2nd day all about paperwork and videos!!! Alot of information to take in, also any issues with your application is brought to your attention on this day!! So far so good, thanks to you guys for the good luck wishs!!
alright 3rd day is over and I will tell you this be prepared to wait and wait!!! Patience is a must on the 3rd day, all the final checks to your background checks, doctors release forms, etc is done on the 3rd day and it is done thru the safety dept. in chatanooga, TN so its alot of faxing on that day. This morning when we left the hotel there were 10 of us, when the day was over 7 of us returned and one of the 7 was hired (i am that number 7) all the others are awaiting there faxes from prior jobs, schools etc. and just ran out of time today to get it done. I am currently hired and had a trainer at 3pm this afternoon, however as i was settling in with the trainer and unloading my gear, i was contacted by my training cordinator and he advised that the trainer i had was not able to take me and that i needed to return to his office for futher instruction. Well do to a trainer conflict with administration I now have to wait for another trainer, so they put me back up in a hotel tonight and hopefully i will get hooked up with him or her tomorrow. So far everything has been going pretty well, for me anyways, I know everyone will be different but the company handles things well and are professional about it too, which is a big plus for me. So if anyone is heading to chicago terminal for orientation, this is what you can expect... I will post more as i know it....
Day#4 back at the terminal and just found out my trainer is heading this way, but is 11hrs from here!! so it looks like i have a long day here, he is coming from PA and the weather is crappy up in new england area all day it looks like so most likely i will be either in a hotel room again tonight or in his truck here at the terminal, if he makes it today that is. Also, 6 more guys are still waiting to be cleared yet today. Will be even longer for them it looks like!! more to come....
Good info there, I wish you luck in your new endeavor. I am interested in how things work out for you at US Xpress.. Keep us posted.
sorry guys i kinda got busy and couldnt post from day#5 on!! but to make a long story short, I went out for a week with a moron trainer, I went without a shower or dinner aside from a truck stop hot dog for 5 days!! Needless to say I am now posting this thread from the comfortable chair in my home!! Yes i quit after a week, the company is great!!! Its not for me, I am unsure if it was the trainer or if it was the fact that I was not ready to live that way. Anyway good luck to all of you!! I am currently trying to get other endorsements and looking for something more to fit my lifestyle and close to home!!
