I got B at for arriving early once. The dude that runs the place drives up on fork lift, says "Oh thank God. They said you wouldn't be here for another 7 or 8 hours. We need these so bad, I have 8 people standing there. I'll have you unloaded in 20 minutes. "

    Wow. I done good huh?

No agent whines like a little girl, says he'll be in trouble cause I'm early.

    Go figure.

Only time anyone said anything to me about being early it was probably a day early. And all they said was it might be an hour before we get you unloaded. 10-4

I delivered a load 3 months late one time. It was rejected anyway. Which worked out nicely. I made $850 in two days and about 750 miles. As a company puke.

Never heard of being in trouble for being early. Sometimes we have to wait if we're early, but that's only at one of our customers.

Kind of a dumb story but I love that lady's voice! She could be a voice actor or something. Very sexy... like Whoopi Goldberg.

    1. The cool head prevails.
    2. Good drivers are hard to find because they’re rarely looking for work. The best way to hire a good driver is to steal him from someone else.

Wal-Mart fines our company if we deliver early. I used to get there a day early until I got a phone call saying to stop doing that. We also have a major customer that issues specific instructions that we are NOT to deliver early.

The only time I’ve ever caught flak for arriving early was a month ago. I picked up scrap metal at some port in Memphis and brought it up to Iowa. I loaded in the morning with a fresh clock and ran it straight up. They wanted to reject it because in the quote they had the price figured for the next day. The boss took it “this time” and said never again will I be able to dump a day early. The difference in price was 1/2 a penny a ton..

Only time I ever got yelled at was Solvay, New York because I was a day early.
Him “You are a day early, its going to mess everything up.”
Me “If you get a chance to unload me today, great, if not, no big deal. Just trying to beat the blizzard”
Him “I have to blah, blah this and that”
    Me “I understand.”
So he does unload me that morning, and then tells me how he’s glad I was there a day early since it helped him out for the next day’s schedule.

Nowadays, Elogs would prevent me from getting there early, or at least make me more rested while he whined.
