Hi all, ever since I got in this truck last year, I noticed a problem when I use all the washer fluid....draining the reservoir empty. After I put new fluid in...I get a smeary film on the windshield in streaks. It stays mostly white , but then clears to where its partially see-through. Takes quite a bit of work to scrub it off at the pumps. I imagine its some sort of oily junk in the reservoir...and when I put new stuff in...it runs through the system, otherwise just staying on a film at the top of the fluid. I tried flushing the rez out this summer...apparently to no avail. Any suggestions here? This is really starting to bug me. Someone mentioned adding a drop or two of dish soap to the rez? Thanks!
Lemon juice --- concentrated. Take about 3 16 oz bottles...then fill the rez with hot water, let stand for a few minutes....then flush the crap out of it. Be sure you run a bit through your lines...before you flush.
In auto repair, we use denatured alcohol when a customer decides that it's ok to put power steering fluid in the brake master cylinder reservoir...they soon find out, it's not ok Denatured alcohol is an excellent solvent, will not harm rubber or plastic, is gentle enough to not harm paint, and will take care of any unwanted residue in the system...should be about $10-$15 a gallon.
